DJ Anthony

Anthony was introduced to Mark Zanoni, owner of Maxwell’s back in September of 1991 by a friend. Zanoni at the time was interested in Anthony’s style of music and invited him to play the opening set of their popular Thursday night. At that time Anthony had never seen or worked with a Technic’s 1200 turntable. Anthony played his first set radio style, one track to the next, using 2 standard home CD players. Even though he didn’t mix, something between what he was playing and the crowd clicked in a very positive way. Zanoni offered Anthony a permanent residency alongside with already residents Shawn Parker, Brad Cole, and Donovan. This was the beginning of an elite team of talent that would bring forth the underground dance movement in New Mexico along with other well respected talent like Eldon, Chris De Jesus, Kena, Deepsky, Gyrate, David Zaintz, Rev. Mitton, Donna Lee, Van Roy, Tok, and DJ Oona with so many more to follow in New Mexico.

Since September of 1991 Anthony has never gone a week without playing at least one gig. In his almost 14 years as a DJ, Anthony was a major player at most underground rave parties in New Mexico between 1991-2000. He’s held a successful reign of residencies in nightclubs in both Albuquerque and Santa Fe. In 2005/2006 Anthony holds one of the longest residencies in New Mexico history at The Pulse Night Club every Saturday night since April of 1996.

Anthony has represented the New Mexico scene with great pride over the years playing over 18 major US cities from San Francisco to Miami Beach. He has shared the turntables and been a part of grand events featuring such valued international talent as DJ Dan, Taylor, Sandra Collins, Avenue D, RuPaul, Lady Bunny, Christopher Lawrence, Sasha, John Debo, John Bishop, Markie, Max Graham, Commander Tom, Everything But The Girl, Radio Head, Dead or Alive, Donald Glaude, Dave Seaman, Pete Tong, Anne Savage, Bad Boy Bill, Markus Schulz, Richard Humpty Vission, BT, The Crystal Method, The Tidy Boys, Ralphi Rosario, Boy George, Deepsky, Dave Ralph, Rabbit In The Moon, NJoi, CL McSpadden, Rob Vaughn, DJ Irene, Kristine W, Paul Oakenfold, Gyrate, Jason Dunne, Chris Fortier, Jimmy Van M, and Joey Beltram. The future looks to be even brighter as 2006 holds global opportunities for Anthony.

Anthony is proud to call The Pulse Night Club his home and it's the only place you can catch his groove each and every Saturday Night with DJ Kena, Leo and a variety of great talent featuring JoJo Pineau, DJ Jenn, Reverend Mitton and Jakob Jay.

DJ Jakob Jay

Magic…….That’s what some have been heard calling the fresh, enthusiastic style DJ Jakob Jay incorporates into his DJ sets. Jakob is indeed a rising star and Pulse is proud to claim him as our own. Jakob first fell in love with the music right here at Pulse, dancing to and loving the sounds of DJ Chris DeJesus and DJ Anthony. While spending time in Washington, DC, this love affair grew into a passion, and Jakob began practicing his art while collecting records and observing some of the music’s finest. Upon his return to New Mexico, Jakob began making his name with sets at venues such as Paramount and 1OPM. These appearances created a buzz and a demand for his sound and he soon found himself being booked at raves, parties, and more nightclubs in the area. Jakob soon after became a resident in Blu, and in late summer 2004 began one of the premier club events in New Mexico, "Sugar" in Pulse.

One never knows what to expect from Jakob Jay. Will it be house, r&b, techno, trance, hip-hop, dancehall, or old school funk? The only thing that is a certainty is that the dance floor will be jumpin’ and the crowd will be movin’ and groovin’ to his sound all night long. Experience DJ Jakob Jay for yourself, Wednesdays at “Spice” in BLU, and Fridays at “Sugar” in Pulse.
